Karl Freund
Karl Freund is Founder and Principal Analyst of Cambrian AI Research (www.cambrianai.com). He explores AI and HPC hardware and cloud service providers, and lives near Boulder Colorado. His clients include dozens of public and private semiconductor companies and investors, for whom he publishes research papers and provides marketing advice. Karl's expertise builds on decades of experience as a marketing executive in the IT hardware and software business, including Moor Insights & Strategy, HPE, IBM, AMD, Cray, and startups, including Calxeda, the early ARM-server darling. Mr. Freund's fascination with AI hardware stems from his work as General Manager of Data Center GPU's at AMD in 2015. Since then, he has become one of the industry’s bestknown analysts in the AI hardware space and is an energetic speaker at industry and investment conferences. He frequently writes about the industry in Forbes, where he has published well over 100 blogs. Mr. Freund holds a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University in Applied Mathematics and a Master of Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He loves skiing, road biking, hiking, and scuba diving, and of course his lovely wife of 35 years, Lynne Ovington.
