Murali Krishna Emani

Computer Scientist , Argonne National Laboratory
Murali Emani is a Computer Scientist at the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF), where he leads the strategic evaluation of next-generation AI hardware and its integration into extreme-scale systems. As co-lead of the ALCF AI Testbed, he collaborates directly with industry-leading silicon vendors to refine hardware roadmaps and optimize software stacks for massive-scale deployment. His work specifically focuses on overcoming the system-level bottlenecks that arise when scaling foundation models and complex scientific workloads. Emani has been involved in major collaborative efforts like the Trillion Parameter Consortium, DoE Genesis mission, contributing to strategies for training large scientific foundation models. Additionally, he served as a co-chair of the MLPerf HPC group at MLCommons, he drove international standards used by industry to benchmark machine learning performance on the world's most powerful supercomputers. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh, UK and previously held a postdoctoral position at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
