Tim Rausch

SVP Product Engineering, WD

Tim Rausch brings more than 26 years of hard disk drive technology experience to Western Digital, beginning his career after graduate studies in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, where he later focused on HAMR recording technology at Seagate. In 2020, Tim joined Amazon Web Services as a senior hardware engineering leader overseeing HDD storage systems for the cloud, including fleet health management and efforts to improve storage efficiency and reduce costs at scale. In close collaboration with the WD team, he played a key role in launching variable-capacity drives, electrical depop, and FACT log fleet health monitoring at AWS.

Tim now leads Product Engineering at WD, where his organization transforms storage technologies into fully developed products — bridging R&D and the market to ensure innovations are manufacturable at scale and deliver reliable value across WD's customer segments, from hyperscalers to emerging scalers and new adopters of HDD technology.
